System 06

The morning page

One page, once a day, written in sentences. What came in, what went out, what is late, and the short list that needs you. No dashboard to log into.

The last of the six, and the one that makes the other five worth having. Everything the systems did overnight arrives as a single page at breakfast, written like a letter rather than rendered as a chart.

What it says

  • What came in, and from where
  • What went out, and what is still owed to you
  • What is late, and what is about to be
  • The short list that needs a person, and nothing else in that list

The ratio is the point. On a normal day the page reports dozens of actions taken and a handful escalated. If that list is long, something upstream is wrong and you find out the next morning rather than the next quarter.

What it is not

It is not a business intelligence project. There is no data warehouse, no modelling, and nothing to configure before you can read it. If a number on the page cannot be traced back to a real event in one click, it does not go on the page.

Where it sits

It reads the funnel, the inbox and the back office, and what it says is what changes where demand spends next month. That is the loop closing.

It goes in on day nineteen of the install.

Questions people actually ask

Why not a dashboard?

Because dashboards get opened twice and then never again. A page that arrives whether or not you go looking for it is the only reporting that survives a busy month.

Eight businesses, one operator

Send one paragraph about the business.

What it does, what it charges, and which of the six systems is hurting most. You will get back a fixed price, a start date, and an honest answer about whether an install is even the right thing for you.
